The ASUS Crosshair has a long legacy of being one of the best high-end motherboards for AMD systems. One of the trademarks of the Crosshair series is support for multi-GPU. While the first and second generations Crosshair motherboards support Nvidia SLI, the third generation only supports AMD CrossFire due to chipset limitation.

Based on the AMD 890FX/SB850 chipset, the ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme will support any AM3 based Phenom II, Athlon II and Sempron 100 series CPU. Since this is a Republic of Gamers enthusiast motherboard, packed in along with the instruction manual and the drivers CD is an extra eSATA expansion bracket, 3x SATA 6.0GBps cables, 1x SATA 3 cable, 1x USB cable, rear i/o panel cover and an RoG sticker for your case.
3 PureOC
The ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme sports the Lucid Hydra chip, a special addition that allows for the bridging of AMD and Nvidia GPUs. Add a whole boatload of premium features and excellent overclocking performance, this may very well be the best AM3 board we've ever seen.

"The new ROG was just released in the early part of October and have been met by reviewers raving about it. Like the M4A89TD Pro/USB3 we reviewed a few weeks ago, the ROG is based on the AMD 890FX/SB850 chipset, meaning all latest AMD processors are supported including the hexa-core Thuban."
5 Vortez
"Once again we are in the presence of something very special here at Vortez, the highly anticipated new motherboard from ASUS... the Crosshair IV Extreme. Sharing some similarities with its 'Formula' sibling the Extreme brings a selection of additional features to the table and is designed to represent the pinnacle of performance hardware for AMD's AM3 platform. It's almost certainly going be on a few enthusiasts Christmas lists!"
