The new Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P motherboard is build with the AMD 770 chipset and the SB710 southbridgeand is on ocinside.de the first AMD DDR3 board. It is in the lower price segment, but it has awesome settings and a nice overclocking result. The review will show how high the performance and the overclocking of the Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P is in comparison to the previous Socket AM3 DDR2 board.
Finally, I get to play with the Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P, after taking a look at the MA790XT-UD4P and the MA790FXT-UD5P, the two higher end AM3 boards from the same manufacturer. Also based on the 7-series chipset without an integrated graphics processing unit, this affordable board is also compatible with the latest processors from AMD and, compared to many other boards in its price range, works with DDR3 memory.
The lowest price we found on an AM3 board based on the AMD 770 chipset was Gigabyte's MA770T-UD3P, which is what we are evaluating today. Don't let the price fool you though. There's plenty of power and features to be had with this $79.99 board. Some of the board's key features include one PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot, support for dual channel DDR3 1666(OC)/1333/1066 memory, Firewire, and four PCI-E x1 slots.
Most of us .. well 98% of us, can live fine with one PCIe slot and thus one graphics card. Two PCI slots are just fine. So get this ... I spotted this little cute Gigabyte motherboard still with 6x SATA, Gigabyte Ethernet, RAID, 4 DIMM slots, integrated audio, dual-BIOS and the entire Gigabyte enchilada of motherboards features for roughly 79 USD. Here in Europe you can even pick them up at just over 60 EUR.
And it seems to me that I can give an affirmative answer to this question. We managed to get our hands on an inexpensive Socket AM3 mainboard called Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P that can offer you almost the same functionality as the more pricy Socket AM3 solutions at a low price of only $80. The secret of this low price tag is simple: this mainboard is built not on the high-end AMD 790FX chipset, but on a somewhat simpler AMD770 chipset, which, however, is quite capable of satisfying the needs of most AMD fans.
"Gigabyte obviously does not need much of an introduction as it is a very well established brand and has had it's fair share of popular motherboard releases. The manufacturer currently has a very wide variety of AMD Socket AM3 motherboards and this particular model sits somewhere in the middle from the low end Micro ATX AMD 740G boards and the fully fledged CrossfireX compliant AMD 790FX boards."
