The Ryzen 7 5800X’s lineage is currently a mystery to be solved. On one end, the chip could belong to AMD’s upcoming Zen 3 (codename Vermeer) family, which the chipmaker will present on October 4. If that’s the case, it would appear that AMD might finally integrate both processors and APUs under the same series. The chipmaker’s mainstream processors and APUs are currently sporting the Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 4000 monikers.

September is the calm time before we soon hit into Zen 3 season. AMD has announced that it will hold an event on October 8th regarding the new Ryzen processors, however exactly what form this event will take (announcement? launch?) is unclear at this time. One of the things that I didn’t really expect when testing both the Celsius+ Prisma S24 and S28 models by Fractal Design was the significantly lesser noise levels compared to the S36 (roughly 8.5dBA less for the S24 and 7.5dBA less for the S28) which are also what makes them far more ideal for people who do care about this. Cooling efficiency on the other hand was much closer than expected with the S28 probably delivering the best price/performance ratio of the three (of course the lack of protective plates for the fins still has me puzzled).
