We have to say that the looks are much less impressive than we’re used to seeing from the Prime range, but already knowing how well the Strix B450-I performs, having tested it prior to the Prime, we’re curious as to whether these plainer aesthetics belie another excellent mid-range Prime model, or if there finally is a black mark against an otherwise solid range of products.

What we’re really looking for with the B450 Pro, priced at around £100, is a collection of board-improving technologies. The X299M Extreme4’s I/O panel has a gap where you’d expect to find a Wi-Fi controller on higher motherboard models, with a CLR_CMOS button next to that gap.
