The eight-core 16-thread Ryzen 7 5700G marks the arrival of AMD’s first 7nm ‘Cezanne’ Zen 3 APUs for desktop PCs, and today we’re taking an early look at the chips. AMD plans to use the Cezanne chips to plug big price gaps in its Ryzen 5000 lineup that dominates our Best CPU list and CPU Benchmark hierarchy, but they’re limited to the OEM market until the full retail launch on August 5, 2021. Anticipation is high, though, so we grabbed an off-the-shelf system from HP to take the Ryzen 7 5700G for a spin.

Instead we have been told the SuperO C9Z590-CGW will cost £419 here in the UK and for that sort of money we expect a premium motherboard that behaves perfectly, delivers good performance and is supplied with a list of impressive features. Instead we have a Z590 motherboard that performs poorly out of the box and which has features that are nothing special.
SuperO could help the C9Z590-CGW by fixing the BIOS and lowering the price to a sensible level, but you still have a bit of a conundrum where the offer is a gaming platform with 10 Gigabit Ethernet and nothing in the way of RGB. You may think that sounds like a confusing combination of features and frankly, we have to agree.

To come back to the model to which we are going to devote this article, the ROG Strix Z590-E, it is currently available at 399 euros at LDLC while the Hero version is available for 512 euros and the APEX version at 549 euros. We can therefore consider that this Strix Z590-E represents entry level in the “Republic of Gamers ” series even if my “F” version is still 50 euros cheaper by ignoring certain options such as the led debug screen . On the other hand, by looking a little, it is available at 329 euros at Alternate and there, it is a very interesting price!

The Gigabyte Z590 Vision G is a striking motherboard. Gigabyte has once again done a good job of creating a white theme that stands out visually, but still fits a wide array of components. While the RGB LED implementation lags behind some other boards in terms of complexity, brightness, and customization, diffusion is excellent, and the placement blends in seamlessly with the board’s theme. Combined with the great storage options including four M.2 slots, the Gigabyte Z590 Vision G makes for a compelling package.
