Taichi has been the pinnacle of ASRock motherboards platforms for years, and the B550 Taichi in itself is one of the more premium motherboards available on the market within the B550 lineup. After focusing on several motherboards with X570 chipset and in particular the Crosshair VIII Dark Hero , today we are back with a model from MSI: the MEG B550 Unify. The “Unify” series was launched at the end of 2019 with the excellent MEG X570 Unify that we had the chance to test exclusively. The idea of MSI, with this new series, was to offer a card that goes to the essentials, leaving aside the RGB backlighting, in order to concentrate on the overclocking aspect in particular . As a reminder, we also had the opportunity to review the B550 Tomahawk version built on the same chipset and whose price is below the 200 euros mark.

Ryan Shrout of Intel dropped some additional performance numbers for the upcoming Rocket lake-S platform, this time focusing on PCIe 4.0 performance. Intel has been behind AMD for years now in their support for PCIe 4.0, so it’s nice to see them finally join AMD with the Rocket Lake-S CPUs. Unfortunately, that also means a motherboard upgrade to get there. Intel is claiming an 11% gain over the AMD Ryzen 5950X in the PCMark10 Quick test with an i9-11900K. This should be an interesting battle once all performance numbers roll out in a few weeks.

AMD is aware of reports that a small number of users are experiencing intermittent USB connectivity issues reported on 500 Series chipsets. We have been analyzing the root cause and at this time, we would like to request the community’s assistance with a small selection of additional hardware configurations. Over the next few days, some r/Amd users may be contacted directly by an AMD representative (u/AMDOfficial) via Reddit’s PM system with a request for more information.
This request may include detailed hardware configurations, steps to reproduce the issue, specific logs, and other system information pertinent to verifying our development efforts. We will provide an update when we have more details to share. Another launch date reported today, courtesy of Cowcotland and via VideoCardz, is for AMD’s Radeon RX 6700 XT. That date? March 18th. This is the first card expected to be based off of the the Navi 22 GPU. Their sources speculate that supplies will be very limited at launch which, with how all hardware launches lately have gone, should be no surprise at all.

The ASRock B550 Taichi Razer Edition AMD AM4 DDR4 motherboard offers an excellent basic configuration with an unique addressable RGB lighting that can be integrated and extensively customized with Razer compatible products, but the other features are also excellent, which combined with great OC results and attractive design provides the base for a high-end AMD system.

The GIGABYTE B550 Aorus Master is based on AMD’s B550 chipset which is compatible with AMD’s socket AM4 CPU’s. The B550 Aorus Master is built using a 2oz. copper, 6-layer PCB and has a VRM sporting 16 power phases with 70A power stages. Very quickly you figure out that despite the semi-budget chipset, this isn’t a budget motherboard offering at all. GIGABYTE made some interesting design choices which seem to be designed to make the B550 Aorus Master something of a poor man’s X570 motherboard.

The MSI MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI we have today is based on the AMD B550 chipset and like all others in this series of chipsets, this board features the design in terms of CPU, RAM, and PCI-Express support and reliability. It also supports AMD Ryzen 5000 Series CPUs. Being one of the upper-tier “gaming” motherboards we expect to see some extra features while testing this motherboard.
