ASRock B550 Taichi

Following its usual Taichi design scheme, Asrock festoons the B550 Taichi with gears along with a black, steel-gray, and gold color scheme. Aesthetics are a matter of opinion, but personally I feel this board looks spectacular. Black is the dominant color, but there’s enough gray that the board doesn’t feel overly dark, nor does the amount of steel feel overwhelming.

ASRock B550 Extreme4

The B550 Chipset from AMD is the mainstream chipset whereas the X570 is the high-end or enthusiast chipset. ASRock B550M Steel Legend

It has a Camouflage pattern PCB that uses silver heatsinks, one of which supports the chipset and the main M.2 slot which is a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot while the secondary one is below it and is unfortunately running at 3.0 x2 and disables the top two SATA ports when in use. The fact that it is limited to only 3.0 x2 and is a secondary drive may make adding a heatsink, an unnecessary cost that most users in this price point.

ASRock A520M ITX/ac

The ITX form factor has a dedicated following, and the ASRock A520M ITC/ac definitely seems to thinks so. With the ever increasing integration of functionality into the chipset, there really isn’t a need for multiple PCIe slots like there has been in years past. Does a typical gamer need more than one slot for a graphics card? If the board has WiFi, LAN, USB 3.0 and decent audio, most of the core bases are covered.

Razer Announces ASRock Built “Razer Edition” AM4 Motherboard

At Razercon 2020, Razer announced their first “Razer Edition” motherboards with ASRock, bringing further into the custom PC market than ever before. Stranger still is the fact that Razer appears to have no plans to release Intel-based Razer Edition motherboards at this time. Razer is backing Ryzen. 

With ASRock as their motherboard partner, Razer’s “Razer Edition” motherboards will feature similar specifications to today’s Taichi series motherboards. Razer plans to release X570 and B550 motherboard designs, supporting Razer Chroma RGB and support for a range of other addressable RGB components.

Motherboard BIOS Updates for Ryzen 5000 Drop

Now that AMD has announced the Zen 3 5000 Series, it’s time to get your motherboard ready, assuming you’ll be upgrading. The first series of BIOS updates to AGESA v2 v1.1.0.x have started to roll out, though some are still offering v1.0.8.1 at this time.
