Clocking in around $80, it sits rather more comfortably with the value-orientated B550’s market positioning. Not that the B550 is a bum chipset. In fact, it isn’t miles away from its bigger X570 brother by most metrics. The key differentiator between the two involves the link between the CPU and PCH chip, the latter essentially being the motherboard chipset thanks to much of what used to be chipset functionality now residing on the CPU package.

Today we are looking at the ASRock Rack X570D4I-2T. This board is somewhat of an X570-based successor to the X470D4U and X470D4U2-2T that we previously covered, though the shift to a mini-ITX form factor throws a curveball into that comparison. Similar to the X470 boards before it, ASRock Rack is making a case for Ryzen as a server processor, boasting higher core counts than Intel’s low-end Xeon chips and the unofficial ECC memory support baked into the desktop Ryzen processors.

Well, the ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ax is the only ITX motherboard that I’ve seen that features two M.2 slots for SSDs. One Hyper M.2 (PCIE 4.0/Gen4) and the other, Ultra M.2 (PCIE 3.0/Gen3). Most mini-ITX motherboards that I’ve come across only come with one M.2 slot.
