The ASUS Crosshair VIII X570 Extreme is the subject of this review. At $799, ASUS offers an all-black, all-sweet X570 motherboard loaded with the most premium features like 10 Gbit LAN and AX WIFI 6E, as well as a design that resembles Batman’s toolbelt. ASUS Z690 Motherboards Feature Q-Release for Video Cards

Asus is delivering an excellent quality of life improvement with its upcoming Z690 motherboards with what it calls PCIe Slot Q-Release. As spotted by @momomo_us, this feature will allow users to easily remove a graphics card installed in the primary PCIe 5.0 slot on a Z690-based motherboard. 

Removing a modern graphics card from a motherboard shouldn’t be too much of a hassle in most cases. However, the heatsink design of some cards coupled with motherboards becoming increasingly crammed with components around the PCIe slot, can sometimes make removal a bit more cumbersome. The Q-Release aims to alleviate this by pressing a button mounted near the DDR4/DDR5 memory slots.

ASUS PRIME Series Z690 Motherboards Break Cover

We received four photos of the upcoming Z690 PRIME motherboards from ASUS. The PRIME series used to be the mid-tier segment in the company’s lineup, but in the past few years, they have progressively been pushed back by TUF the lowest tier. The good news is that we finally get to see the design of the (almost) cheapest motherboards of the next generation.

It is worth noting that ASUS will be launching as many as 10 Z690 PRIME motherboards. The A-Series, which is a higher sub-tier in the PRIME series with the addition of RGB lighting etc., and V-Series (the lowest tier) have not been pictured yet.

ASUS ProArt X570-CREATOR WIFI – Tom’s Hardware

Powering the CPU on the Asus ProArt X570-Creator WIFI is a 14+2 VRM, capable of driving AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 5950X at stock speeds and while overclocked. The X570 version we’re testing today includes three M.2 sockets and six SATA ports, which should be enough for most content creators, without throwing in an add-in-card. Along with the increased storage options and fast Wi-Fi, the board includes a 10 GbE port, flagship-class audio (albeit last-generation) and two Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C ports to round out primary connectivity. Overall, it’s a well-appointed motherboard for content creators looking for an X570 workhorse.

ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI – Stacked Design?

By far the most interesting thing about this leak is the design of the daughterboards installed right on top of the space usually reserved for an M.2 slot. It is hard to tell from this angle but this might be ASUS’ solution to attaching multiple M.2 slots as well as extension ports and audio chipset to such a tiny design.

ASUS Z690 motherboard series is set to launch around November 4th, when Intel officially lifts the sale embargo. However according to previous reports they might go on sale a week sooner (preorders). The board has recently appeared in a retailer leak (here and here) with a price tag of 360 to 451 EUR (without VAT).

Like all Z590, we have compatibility with 10th and 11th Gen CPUs. 64GB of memory support up to DDR4 5100 over two slots. DIMM.2 takes on the task of Gen3 NVMe storage, while a single slot up top will handle your Gen4 NVMe. Eight SATA ports are included for legacy storage needs, while a host of USB 3.2 connectivity is offered both on internal headers and the rear I/O.

2.5Gbe is offered as standard, while WiFi6e is included on this board. We also have 20Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2x2 on the rear panel and the traditional 3.5mm audio setup.

The Extreme performed well in our testing, excelling in PC Mark 10 tests, while showing average to above-average results in most other tests. Surprisingly, gaming results were slightly lower than average, but not enough to be concerned with. Our overclocking adventures with the Ryzen 9 5950X were met without issue–just set it and forget it. Power use was high during testing, but that’s not surprising considering the kitchen-sink-level features on the board.
