ASUS PRIME Z370-A

The Prime Z370-A supports keeping all three of its x16-length slots active, even when hosting two M.2 drives, which should be seen as a significant benefit by anyone who might ever consider installing two M.2 drives. Sharing problems are still present but lessened, as the second M.2 slot gets only two PCIe lanes until the user goes into firmware and sets the slot to x4 mode, which disables two of the SATA ports.

ASUS TUF H370-PRO GAMING (WI-FI)

ASUS is one of the biggest names in the PC gaming market, especially their RoG hardware. Of course, there are many fans of their award-winner TUF hardware too! ASUS ROG STRIX H370-I GAMING

When Intel announced the 8th generation Core processors last fall, the industry was a bit shocked to see a new platform come out in less than a year after 7th gen Kaby-Lake and Intel 200 series boards. The chipset heatsink is far more basic while Asus chooses the move the M.2 shield to a location between the CPU and primary x16 PCIe slot. It’s low profile enough not to block-off the x1 PCIe slot right next to it, and it will likely get some indirect cooling from the CPU heatsink’s fan.

ASUS ROG STRIX X370-I Gaming

So even with new CPUs on the way if you are looking to build small form factor you will most likely still need to go X370 initially. So I’m excited both to finally see what Asus has to offer for AM4 ITX and to see how it compares to the Gigabyte AB350N board that I’ve been using all over the office. But I’m also hoping the Strix X370-I Gaming is a solid board that will let me build a crazy second gen Ryzen build when they finally come out as well.
