With the AM4 socket, this motherboard will house everything from the Ryzen range, such as the Ryzen 3, 5 and 7 series, including the 1800X. However, today we’ll be testing it with the Ryzen with Vega 2400. With the cost of the CPU and motherboard coming in at around £230, and not requiring a GPU for 720P and even 1080p gaming performance, that’s a tempting deal for many consumers.

Today we have another B350 chipset motherboard in for review, and this time it is one from MSI. These B350 motherboards we are reviewing have integrated graphics outputs, and in this case, MSI has added three GPU outputs onto the rear IO panel, and they even include VGA (D-SUB).

At an MSRP of £109, the board is going up against Gigabyte’s AB350N-Gaming WiFi, and the latter is certainly a little more attractive with a less obvious brown PCB and some red details compared to the slightly generic black theme going on with the MSI board.

For the purpose of this review, I’ll be testing the motherboard and CPU in the standard fashion. This means our 1080 Ti will be in place, thus showing how everything performs in relation to how every other motherboard was tested by us. The AB350N-Gaming WiFi is ideal for inverted or cube cases, and overclocks just as well as some of the other X370 boards we’ve tested. Given the target form factor, B350 is a great choice for this type of system and Gigabyte delivers Wi-Fi, sufficient USB, and just enough RGBness to give the mainstream a taste of enthusiasm.

The motherboard that we are going to be reviewing today is the MSI B350 Tomahawk, which happens to be one of the most popular B350 models at the moment. With a retail price of $110 USD / $145 CAD, it certainly meets our definition of an affordable motherboard. When it comes to specs, it comes pretty well appointed.

We’ve seen the launch of three ranges of mainstream Ryzen CPUs as well as the high-end desktop Threadripper ones , but while you could build a micro-ATX Ryzen system a while ago, it’s only been recently that the likes of Biostar, ASRock, and Gigabyte have taken up the mini-ITX mantle; MSI and Asus are still absent.

If you are building a new Ryzen-based PC and are using a single graphics card a B350 motherboard could help you save some money to put towards that graphics card or other components. B350 motherboards could actually be the sweet spot for Ryzen gamers as you still get overclocking capabilities, two more PCIe lanes as well as 1 more USB 3.1 port than the lower-end A320 motherboards.
