The MSI MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI we have today is based on the AMD B550 chipset and like all others in this series of chipsets, this board features the design in terms of CPU, RAM, and PCI-Express support and reliability. It also supports AMD Ryzen 5000 Series CPUs. Being one of the upper-tier “gaming” motherboards we expect to see some extra features while testing this motherboard.

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) – iXBT

Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming (Wi-Fi) is a mid-budget chipset motherboard that belongs to the Strix series of the ROG brand. The model is quite expensive for its niche: for about the same money, you can find a motherboard based on AMD X570 – albeit with a fan on the chipset, but with its own PCIe 4.0 (B550 only supports PCIe 3.0, but processor slots can be PCIe 4.0) and wider peripheral support. True, it is not a fact that such motherboards will have an equally excellent power system, because it is it that is the main trump card of the ROG Strix B550-F Gaming (Wi-Fi).

MSI MEG B550 UNIFY – HKEPC

MSI launches a new flagship motherboard “MEG B550 UNIFY”, featuring a luxurious straight-out 16-phase 90A digital power supply design, a full-coverage extended I/O cover and a double-sided FROZR metal heat sink, supporting DDR4 5100+ OC memory speed And PCIe 4.0 configuration, it also has 4 sets of M.2 SSD configuration, WIFI 6 and 2.5G LAN network module. The B550 UNIFY with low chipset positioning is unexpectedly good for the big brother X570 UNIFY, which is simply unbelievable.

MSI Announces New A520, B550 mATX Motherboards

MSI has announced two new entry-level mATX motherboards, the MAG A520M BAZOOKA WIFI and the MAG B550M VECTOR WIFI. These are both interesting boards, with the A520 board being one of the few that feature an integrated Wi-Fi solution. It features a heatsink on the VCore portion of the VRM, as well as an available M.2 heatsink. One the B550M VECTOR WIFI front, we also have another mATX form factor board featuring a similar or identical layout, VRM, etc. Click the links to find out more on each of these new boards.

MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK

As with the MSI MPG B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi, the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk was also compared with its predecessor in the following. The first obvious difference is a thicker power supply and support for faster RAM. There are also differences in the slots – there are now two M.2 slots in particular. There are further upgrades to report on the network, the sound processing and the USB ports, albeit only minimally in the latter.

MSI: AGESA v1.1.9.0 BIOS Updates Coming Soon for 400/500 Series Boards

And the rest models will be able to download soon in January 2021.

We take a closer look at the MPG B550 Gaming Edge WIFI, it has numerous fan connections and a USB-C front panel connection and it also brings a surprise. You can find out everything else in our test. GIGABYTE B550 AORUS ELITE

The GIGABYTE B550 AORUS ELITE we have today is based on the AMD B550 chipset and like all others in this series of chipsets, this board features the design in terms of CPU, RAM, and PCI-Express support and reliability. It also supports AMD Ryzen 5000 Series CPUs. However, this board is a mid-level design so it may be lacking some of the features that are found in the higher-level motherboards. We were rather surprised to see the logo “(rev 1.0)” indicating they are planning a further revision of the same board.

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING

Coming in at around the £200 mark, this high-end B550 offering features an actively cooled 8+2 power stage design, dual M.2 sockets, plentiful quantities of 10Gbps USB on the rear and internally, and high-speed wired and wireless networking connectivity. ASUS also included a unique feature in its USB Type-C audio connector.

£200 is steep for a B550 motherboard, even in the typically more expensive Mini-ITX form factor. And with tough competition from the similarly priced ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/AX motherboard in particular, can ASUS’ ROG STRIX B550-I Gaming prove its worth? Let’s take a look.

MSI Rolling Out AGESA v.1.1.9.0 BIOS’ for X570/B550

MSI confirmed that it has initiated the first phase rollout of its new X570 & B550 BIOS based on the AGESA 1.1.9.0 firmware. The AGESA 1.1.9.0 is the official BIOS firmware that will enable support for AMD’s brand new Curve Optimizer feature. In addition to the Curve Optimizer feature support, the BIOS also fixes compatibility issues with NVIDIA cards when enabling Resizable BAR. Although there is no official support for BAR at the moment from NVIDIA motherboard makers have supported the feature on their Intel & AMD current-gen products.
