For Z590, GIGABYTE is focusing on several key features for the Master, the first being the Extreme Power Design using 90A SPS for each phase along with high current MOSFETS and Tantalum Polymer Capacitors. This allows the AORUS Master to run with lower temperatures and improved transient response to changes in load.

Another significant feature of the Z590 AORUS Master is improved memory performance and compatibility with DDR4 5000+ kits that are being released into the market for Rocket Lake S CPUs. This rolls us into the PCIe 4.0 hardware design with tighter tolerances than PCIe 3.0; this means less signal loss and more stability on ports and slots designed for Gen4 devices.

All this talk of overclocking might imply that the board is a one trick pony but that’s definitely not the case. LN2 overclockers make up just a fraction of a fraction of the market, and a regular user looking to push their 11th Gen K-series CPU with regular cooling won’t be lacking anything in terms of connectivity. You get eight SATA ports and three M.2 slots, USB 3.2 Gen 2 (including a Type-C 2×2 port), Intel 2.5G LAN and Wi-Fi 6E, all of which you’d expect on a high-end board. Perhaps 5G or 10G LAN would be nice given the cheaper Aorus Master comes with 10G.

Some manufacturers, when developing motherboards based on the Intel Z490 chipset, have provided support for one of the most important innovations of the 11th generation processors – PCIe version 4.0. But it was impossible not to release the updated series of motherboards based on the Intel Z590 chipset for a number of reasons. If visually the Z590 AORUS Master practically does not differ from the Z490 AORUS Master (if you look closely, there are differences, but we are talking about the visual component), then inside the changes are very significant – especially the power subsystem and its cooling system. The first was noticeably strengthened, and the second received an active mode of operation.

For that price, you get the most USB ports — thirteen, including USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port — we’ve seen on any motherboard in quite a while. Additionally, the board includes the latest audio codec, extreme overclocking-capable power delivery and four M.2 sockets. This, coupled with a reasonable price tag, yields a great option fory new Intel-based builds.

Getting the most out of Intel’s Rocket Lake silicon requires a solid platform with multiple aspects, and there are quite a lot of premium Z590 models capable of pushing the limits of both the memory and CPU. One of the more specific models aimed purely at squeezing as much performance from Rocket Lake is the GIGABYTE Z590 Aorus Tachyon. Designed for overclockers, particularly extreme overclocks wanting to go sub-zero, the Z590 Aorus Tachyon has one of the most interesting designs with an extended ATX sized frame but with just two memory slots.

GIGABYTE Z590 VISION G – FunkyKit

We are back this time with a Z590 motherboard! This one is also from Gigabyte and if you remember from the last review of the Z490 AORUS Master I was really excited to be able to try both motherboards with the new Intel i9 11900K processor. I faced a few challenges with the Z490. Most of that challenge was the RAM. I was struggling to get anything to run over 4000MHz. I hoped that it was the chipset and not a weak Memory controller on the processor. That is one of the first things I am going to try when I get this motherboard up and running. Because I can’t be sure either way until I try this new i9 on a Z590 chipset. So until then we will continue with all the details of the Z590 VISION G we have before us.

Gigabyte’s Z590 Vision G has all the parts you expect from a mid-range motherboard. Features are plentiful, from its unique appearance and distinctive VRM heatsink design to the high-end audio solution. As far as premium GIGABYTE Z590 models go, the Z590 Aorus Master sits just behind GIGABYTE’s flagship water-cooled Z590 Aorus Xtreme WaterForce and air-cooled Z590 Aorus Xtreme models. Regarding usable and core features, the Z590 Aorus Master has pretty much what you would expect from a mid-premium model. What GIGABYTE does have is plenty to focus on, including a nice aesthetic, with a predominately black PCB, black heatsinks, and black and silver PCIe slot armor, as well as matching M.2 heatsinks.

Z590 is exciting from a chipset standpoint and Intel boards are finally going to get some of the features AMD boards have had for a while now, the biggest being support for PCI-Express 4.0 from the CPU.  So if you have an 11th Gen CPU the PCIe and M.2 slots powered by the CPU will offer Gen4 connectivity.  You are also going to get USB 3.2 gen 2×2 from the chipset as well as native support for 3200 MHz DDR4 memory.  Our first Z590 motherboard we are taking a look at is the Gigabyte Z590 AORUS Master.  In the AORUS line Gigabyte is offering 9 Z590 boards with the AORUS Master sitting towards the top of the product stack.  It is going to offer a 19-phase VRM with 90A power stages, three M.2 slots, WiFi 6E, 10GbE LAN, and that sleek AORUS look with a full-cover aluminum backplate.
