People accustomed to the TOMAHAWK range will quickly know what it is. Indeed, the packaging has not changed too much compared to the generation before. Keep in mind that it’s an extended size, or E-ATX, meaning it’s larger than a typical ATX motherboard and may not fit in all cases. Asus Prime Z690M-Plus D4 is a versatile and relatively inexpensive solution. It has 15 USB ports of different kinds (including 1 USB 3.2 Gen2×2 and 1 USB 3.2 Gen2), 2 PCIe x16 slots, 2 PCIe x1 slots, 3 M.2 slots, 4 SATA ports and 7 fan connectors. In principle, for a mid-level model, peripheral support is very decent. The board is not equipped with a wireless network module, but there is an M.2 slot for self-installation of an adapter like the AX201. The board has a good cooling system for almost every potentially heated element, but the drives in the M.2 slots devoid of cooling are a minus.

Aesthetically, the MSI MPG Z690 Carbon Wi-Fi is nothing special. The motherboard is attractive, with a dark color scheme and a dragon outline etched into the rear I/O cover, but this has been MSI’s go-to design for years. At a glance, you’d be hard pressed to tell the MPG Z690 Carbon apart from many previous MSI platforms.

For this rather big amount, ASUS ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming Wi-Fi offers a 16 + 1-phase “power supply” on 70-amp assemblies, a not too plentiful package with an eye to the price tag, DDR5 memory slots, a suitable audio path with an operational amplifier , an extremely convenient video card reset button, and of course this and that, 5-10. Somehow small for $400?! – according to primary signs so, but we will understand in more detail.
