In terms of connectivity, we have 6 USB Type-A ports at the back, two of which are 2.0 and four others are USB 3.2. We also have two 16x PCIe slots, the first is PCIe Gen5 compatible and the second is Gen4. For M.2 format SSDs, we have three slots. The first two are PCIe Gen4 x4 compatible and the last is PCIe Gen3 and SATA. Note that only the first slot has a heatsink to prevent thermal throttling . The MSI MAG B660 Mortar WiFi DDR5 motherboard, the review of which you are reading, is probably one of the best-equipped and designed mATXs dedicated to the LGA 1700 platform. Although it is based on the Intel B660 chipset, many models using the Z690 could envy it the quality of workmanship and the add-on package . Unfortunately, the described MSI MAG B660 Mortar WiFi DDR5 also significantly differs from the typical designs for locked Core 12th generation processors in terms of price.

The price range of boards based on the Z690 is very large, and the memory can be left with DDR4. In this article, we will get acquainted with one of the most inexpensive boards, the cost of which is even lower than for a considerable number of solutions based on the junior chipsets of the 600th series – MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk Z690 WiFi DDR4. This motherboard supports DDR4 memory (as the name implies), but there is a modification that supports DDR5 memory.

TUF motherboard designs vary from model to model. In our case, this is a black and gray color scheme with rare yellow accents. It is based on a 6-layer black printed circuit board. Unlike the previous model (TUF Gaming H570-Pro), many changes are immediately visible regarding the number of expansion slots, the power subsystem and its cooling system, and, of course, the processor socket itself. The slots for RAM modules remain the same, since the board is only compatible with DDR4 modules.
