ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI – TechPorn

Powering the CPU is a 10+1 power stage design via a reinforced (ASUS ProCool II) 8-pin CPU power connector. Cooling the VRM (north) is a courtesy of a decent slab of aluminum connected to a larger one (west) via a heat-pipe that goes all the way to the PCH. The CPU fan, AIO pump header and a +12v RGB LED header are also located here. For reference, maximum rated power is 12W @ 1A for each.

GIGABYTE Z690I AORUS ULTRA – GreenTech_Reviews

The motherboard is based on a black 10-layer mini-ITX PCB. In the design, elements of black and gray are mainly used, except that on the rear panel you can see other colors in the design of the I / O ports. Even with a cursory examination, it is easy to identify the differences from its predecessor – a different arrangement of some ports, an updated design of radiators and a completely different “sandwich” in the chipset area.

ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI – NewEsc

Among the novelties is its front port for the tower that now comes on a separate PCB with two connectors. So we will have a more vertical plate with the SATA included, which worries me because it increases the ease with which it could break. Although on a positive side it is easier to fit the connectors of the tower. It also includes a fan inside the external connection protector to further cool the heatsink for the VRM.

ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI – eTeknix

The ASUS ROG Z690-I Gaming WiFi comes equipped with the latest Intel LGA1700 socket, ready for the new 12th Gen Intel Core processors. It’s certainly not backwards compatible with anything, as the CPU is more rectangular on these new models. Power comes from an impressive 10+1 Power Stage design, backed up with high-quality alloy chokes and durable capacitors. While their flagships may have double the Power Stages, that’s still a mighty set up for this form factor. Networking comes from both the WiFi 6E and a 2.5 GbE LAN option, and even more impressive, there are two Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C (USB 4.0) connectors!

ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-I GAMING WIFI – PC Magazine

The main PCB is no less busy for the inclusion of the secondary board, with several components in a tightly packed configuration. Along the top is the usual CPU power connector and a pair of fan headers. Down the right side of the board is the 24-pin motherboard connector, a USB Type-C header, a USB 3.0 header, and four SATA 3.0 ports.

ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI – Stacked Design?

By far the most interesting thing about this leak is the design of the daughterboards installed right on top of the space usually reserved for an M.2 slot. It is hard to tell from this angle but this might be ASUS’ solution to attaching multiple M.2 slots as well as extension ports and audio chipset to such a tiny design.

ASUS Z690 motherboard series is set to launch around November 4th, when Intel officially lifts the sale embargo. However according to previous reports they might go on sale a week sooner (preorders). The board has recently appeared in a retailer leak (here and here) with a price tag of 360 to 451 EUR (without VAT).
