The MEG Z690 ACE appears to introduce a new design scheme with die-cast metal mesh rear I/O shrouds, and a gold+black trim. The I/O shroud design is interesting as it lets the VRM heatsink underneath breathe better. The silver-white MPG motherboard is possibly the MPG Z690 Force. MSI is probably trying to get this to rival the ROG Strix-A SKU by ASUS. The third teaser, of a brushed gunmetal shroud, is likely the MAG Z690 Tomahawk. Like most other brands, MSI appears to have an extensive lineup of Socket LGA 1700 motherboards with DDR4 memory slots, although boards with DDR4 are restricted to the MAG and entry-level PRO series. The mid-tier MPG and enthusiast-segment MEG series boards only come with DDR5.

MSI MPG X570S CARBON EK X – i2Hard

MPG X570s Carbon EK X motherboard comes in a huge cardboard box with a convenient carrying handle. On the front side of the package, there is an image of the device demonstrating the work of RGB-backlighting. The manufacturer claims that the board is compatible with Ryzen 2000, 3000 and 5000 series processors.
The back of the package describes the technical features of the MPG X570s Carbon EK X, including the manufacturer’s key technological solutions. Also shown here is the rear panel connector map.

Touting it as the X570S (S for Silent), one of the main features of the new motherboards is the lack of active cooling solution on the X570 PCH. Several users had requested their respective favorite brands to offer fanless motherboards and well here they are. Rocking brand new designs, features, and improved power delivery, the X570S motherboards are finally available and today, we will be taking a look at MSI’s flagship X570S motherboard, the MEG X570S ACE MAX which is priced at $449 US.

MSI’s MAG X570S Tomahawk MAX WIFI is, as you might guess, a refresh of the X570 Tomahawk WIFI. For $289.99, the X570S model iteratively improves on the previous board, while ditching the chipset fan, and makes a compelling option to build your budget/mid-range AMD Ryzen-based system around. It offers users the latest in audio and Wi-Fi capabilities, along with capable (though not updated) power delivery.

Here is the £290 MSI MPG X570S Carbon Max WiFi. No surprises in learning it has similarities to the X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi, but credit where it’s due, MSI has changed the aesthetic and a number of key features in this transition.
Chief amongst these improvements is greater heatsink coverage, that lack of chipset fan, and RGB lighting across two sections. LEDs beneath the Carbon name on the southbridge heatsink are clearly visible, which isn’t ideal. MSI has done a much better job on the three-sliver lighting on top of the main VRM heatsink as the LEDs are hidden away.

The MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus is not only the cheapest motherboard in the series, but also the cheapest ATX gaming motherboard from the manufacturer. Since it is actually identical to the MSI B550-A PRO, you can ask yourself the question “What makes a gaming mainboard anyway?”. If you look at the differences between the two boards, a mainboard is only suitable for gaming if it has a cool look or lighting.

With all of its shrouds and large heatsinks, the board looks like it’s ready for business. All (three) M.2 sockets and the chipset sport a basic heatsink, while the left VRM bank uses a large heatsink that reaches out over the rear IO. Thankfully, most of the white/grey stenciling we’re used to seeing has been done away with. If you’re looking for an RGB light show, you’ll have to add that yourself, as the only RGB illumination is around the chipset area. In the end, the updated appearance should work with more build themes than previous versions.

The Gaming Carbon has been the top model in the MPG series from MSI for some time. It doesn’t matter which socket or chipset is on the board. The MSI MPG Z590 Gaming Carbon WiFi can also be understood in the same way. For gamers, it should have everything they need and offer slightly upscale features. This time the board has got a twin, so to speak – the MSI MPG Z590 Gaming Force dispenses with the WLAN adapter and is more colorful, but otherwise designed and equipped identically ( see Intel Z590 overview ). The most recent version of the carbon motherboard has reduced its playful character a little, but not completely discarded it.

MSI MEG B550 UNIFY – Hardware-Journal

The MSI MEG B550 Unify is the manufacturer’s most expensive B550 motherboard, which is also reflected in many points and functions. One can name here the power supply, the layout, the network connection, the audio solution and much more. That the rather discreet board is also suitable for overclockers is shown by the sibling model Unify-X, which only has two RAM banks and is also supposed to run particularly high memory speeds. However, the present sample should first be examined more closely.

MSI MPG B560I GAMING EDGE WIFI – Hexus

The primary M.2 has a decent, chunky heatsink and is connected to the CPU’s lanes, meaning there’s PCIe 4.0 x4 connectivity for 11th Gen Core chips. A second, uncooled, resides on the back and interfaces with the chipset at PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds. We find it unnecessary to have four SATA ports on a mini-ITX board; two ought to be sacrificed for a third M.2.
Moving on around, it’s a shame that MSI uses the older ALC897 audio codec. Rival Asus ROG Strix B560-I Gaming includes ALC1220 and 20Gbps USB on its price-comparable board.
