Not to be left out of the fun, we also have first pictures today of some MSI Z590 motherboards. This time, courtesy of VideoCardz, we have the MSI Z590 GODLIKE, MSI MAG Z590 TOMAHAWK, and MSI Z590 MPG GAMING CARBON. The flagship board, the Z590 GODLIKE, continues the trend of E-ATX flagships with some massive styling upgrades over the Z490 compatriot. All three boards feature substantial VRM heatsinks, integrated rear I/O panels and shields, what appear to be three M.2 slots and more. Head on over for a better look.

MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE
Focusing on performance, the Godlike did well in our benchmarking suite, running most tests on the faster side of average. Even in the PCMark 10 MS Office/Application testing, where we often see anomalies, we saw consistent results across the full gamut of testing. The board allowed the 5950X to reach its full 5 GHz boost, so we’re getting all we paid for at default settings. As expected, overclocking on this motherboard went without a hiccup, easily handling our 16-core/32-thread CPU. VRM temperatures at load were some of the lowest we’ve seen as well.

MSI MEG Z490 UNIFY
The MEG Z490 Unify, built around the LGA1200 socket and Intel’s Z490 chipset for its mainstream desktop CPUs, features an almost entirely black color scheme, with the only traces of contrasting color coming from capacitors and power phases on the board and the steel-reinforced PCI Express slots. If you’ve looked at motherboards over the last few years, it may come off a bit flat for your tastes.

MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK
As with the MSI MPG B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi, the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk was also compared with its predecessor in the following. The first obvious difference is a thicker power supply and support for faster RAM. There are also differences in the slots – there are now two M.2 slots in particular. There are further upgrades to report on the network, the sound processing and the USB ports, albeit only minimally in the latter.

MSI MEG X570 UNIFY
This is a properly outfitted motherboard with three full PCI slots available. You can see two 8-pin power connectors and onboard power button and reset buttons, as well as a 2.5 Gbps ethernet jack and AX WIFI6. MSI has been focusing a lot on cooling, including the three M2 slots having heatsinks. The chipset fan is based on ZeroFrozer technology; ergo is passively cooling at normal load levels (to be honest, we haven’t even seen the chipset fan spin up once.
