ASUS designed the X399 ROG Zenith Extreme to be the pinnacle in terms of features and capabilities for the AMD Ryzen Threadripper processor. The list of features is so long that ASUS’s engineers had to use an Extended ATX (E-ATX) PCB to fit everything and, still, that was not enough, forcing them to use additional vertical daughterboards.

In our two reviews about AMD Ryzen thread Ripper us has the ASUS ROG accompanied Zenith Extreme and thereby served well. The ASUS motherboard , however, stepped back into the second row, as it was primarily about the new processors. Time to take a closer look at the motherboard. Because such a motherboard does not get lost in our editorial office every day.

There is very little lacking here compared to what can only be a Rampage-class Intel board. It’s E-ATX, for starters, yet the PCB is packed. There are four 16x PCIe slots plus single 1x and 4x slots, plus every current storage standard – U.2, six SATA 6Gbps ports, a trio of M.2 ports, plus the full variety of USB ports and headers, too.
