Gigabyte’s TRX40 Aorus Xtreme is undeniably an insane motherboard that’s dripping with features, but at over £800, it’s not exactly affordable and even if you’re in the market for CPUs costing upwards of £1,200, you might think twice about splashing out when there are alternatives that will save you £300.

The TRX40 Aorus Master’s shorter voltage regulator means it will fit more case and cooler combos. But its added depth means it will fit fewer ATX (but all EATX) cases. If this board plays well with the rest of our components and you like lots of expansion slots and M.2, it’s well worth considering.

Don’t be misled into thinking the Master is some stripped down bare bones number though. It’s extremely high end, just relative to the ultimate premium nature of the Xtreme it seems to have less to offer. Compared to anything currently available though it’s still a blinder, so let’s give you a run through before our full review on launch day.

The TRX40 AORUS Master comes with the updated 2019 looks that AORUS has featured on their motherboards. It carries a black and silver color theme with brushed metal surfaces and a very futuristic look which we should expect from AORUS motherboards.
