ASUS WS X299 SAGE

With the seemingly constant releases of the next ‘best thing in gaming’, it’s easy to forget that gaming only makes up a small portion of the PC world.  While it doesn’t take much of a machine to check emails and check out pictures on social media, more than a few people make a living off of getting work done on…

ASRock X299 Extreme4

In this review we will focus on the X299 Extreme4 motherboard which is designed for the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors. All tests will be performed on the i9-7900X processor as I don’t think that many users wish to buy 4 core processors for a high-end desktop platform when 6 core Coffee Lake processors cost not much more.

ASRock X299M Extreme4

With support for the entire Intel X-Series 2066 processor range, it’s obviously built for the enthusiast market. For those building extreme gaming systems or a workstation, it has a lot to offer. It will support multiple GPUs, blazing fast M.2 storage, 4266+ (OC) DDR4 memory, and much more. Of course, added perks like the XXL Aluminium Alloy Heatsink design, RGB lighting and Realtek ALC1220 audio are very welcome additions also.

ASRock X299 Taichi XE

This includes some extremely robust power delivery, and their fantastic XXL heatsink design to sort those pesky VRM issues out quickly enough. In short, if you need something, it’s here and then some.

ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9 XE

ASRock’s team of engineers really excels at doing things that aren’t exactly your normal cup of tea, and ASRock has a long history of products that provide evidence of this fact. We recently covered ASRock’s X299-ITX/ac motherboard, which is a perfect example of this extreme skill and prowess ASRock has thanks to their highly capable design teams. Yet if I am to remain completely honest, that’s not all ASRock is good at.

GIGABYTE X299 DESIGNARE EX

The best news is that Gigabyte took nearly every criticism we leveled against its Aorus Gaming 7 and used it as an opportunity to build a board, basically, for us. That should make it a shoo-in for our highest award. Yet the X299 Designare EX is not a variation of the Aorus Gaming 7 despite design similarities, and this model must still stand on its own merits.
