Our first X370 motherboard review is on the motherboard that AMD provided inside our Ryzen reviewer’s kit. The Crosshair VI Hero is ASUS’s current top offering for the AMD AM4 platform and uses AMD’s X370 chipset. The X370 chipset and Ryzen CPU ecosystem is no longer similar to that of Intel, or anything we have seen before.

GIGABYTE have also implemented their USB DAC-UP 2 technology on two rear panel USB ports, as well as via the front USB30_1 header, this technology provides clean, isolated, low noise power which is suitable for external DACs (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) aka external soundcards/headphone amps as well as high power peripherals such as VR headsets/external storage drives.

As you’d expect from a £200+ ROG board, you get the full complement of overclocking and testing tools, including USB BIOS Flashback, which helped us out more than once with some teething problems we’ve had in our initial Ryzen testing. ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO

We’ve mentioned before how the new X370 chipset has really dragged AMD into the 21st century with all the latest features available, and the Crosshair VI Hero is no exception. Not only do you get the full elements that you would hope to find on an AM4 motherboard – USB 3.1, M.2 socket and the like, but being a Republic of Gamers motherboard it has all the ASUS details too.

MSI X370 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM

AMD and MSI had slipped us an X370 XPower Gaming Titanium along with the rest of the kit. While I’ve taken a look at a lot of MSIs boards, I haven’t had the chance to check out any of their Titanium boards and it is an area where I think MSI has really been showing some creativity, so I’m excited to take a closer look at the new board and find out if the Titanium has the features to back up its good looks.

X370-Gaming 5 goes overboard in terms of fan headers. There are eight on board, including a trio that service all-in-one watercoolers and a duo for CPU, and each one is what Aorus calls hybrid. What this means is that each fan header can adjust the power and speed of the fans, which comes into play well when fine-tuning a build.

MSI X370 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM

As you can see, the feature list is extensive, and with the board being 24-hour gaming certified, you know it’s going to keep up with your demanding workloads.
