The Z370 TOMAHAWK is designed to fulfill the needs of those who can’t or won’t dish out over $200 for a motherboard. That market is huge, and MSI has done a good job of addressing platform cost in regards to Intel’s latest 8th Generation platform.

It’s certainly well equipped for a mini-ITX motherboard, offering M.2 and Optane support for blazing fast storage devices. High-end audio comes courtesy of the ALC1220 chipset, there’s super fast WiFi, high-end power delivery hardware and RGB lighting. The list goes on, but spec for spec, it would be easy to think this was a full-size ATX motherboard.

Mini-ITX Z370 motherboards are not rare, but today we have a new mini-ITX Z370 motherboard from a company that typically does not partake in the mini-ITX game. SuperMicro’s subsidiary SuperO has one mission; to produce PC gaming products. Although the Z370 represents a modest update to Intel’s desktop chipsets, we doubt that will deter the passionate DIY builders from springing for an Intel 8th Gen processor and a new board. We recently looked at both the Intel Core i7-8700K and the inexpensive-but-spicy Core i5-8400 and found both to be solid chips for gamers.
